Data Controller: ANKH LLC, a limited liability company registered in Georgia (Tax ID 405863506), with its registered office at Vazha-Pshavela Ave. 76b, building 47, Tbilisi 0186, Georgia. For all data-protection inquiries, contact hello@ankh.fit.
Ankh ("we", "our", or "the app") is a personal fitness application operated by ANKH LLC. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
1. Data We Collect
Health & fitness data (via Apple HealthKit): With your permission, Ankh reads the following data types from Apple Health:
- Body measurements: weight (body mass), body fat percentage
- Activity: step count, distance walked/run, active energy burned (activity rings), basal energy burned
- Heart: resting heart rate (RHR), heart rate variability (HRV)
- Respiratory: respiratory rate
- Fitness: VO2 Max, workouts
- Sleep: sleep analysis
- Nutrition: dietary energy, macronutrients (dietary data)
- Body temperature
- Reproductive health: menstrual flow
This data originates from your connected devices (e.g., Whoop, smart scales) and is read locally on your device.
Data you enter manually: Workout logs (exercises, sets, reps, notes), food entries (meals, calories, macros), supplement logs, body measurements, progress photos, goals, menstrual cycle logs (period start dates, flow intensity, symptoms, notes), missions and training plans, and cycle settings (biological sex, contraception type).
Photos: If you choose to add photos to share cards, those photos are processed entirely on your device. They are never uploaded to our servers.
Camera & food/supplement label scanning: If you use the label scanning feature, the app accesses your device camera to photograph food and supplement labels. The image is sent to Anthropic's Claude API for recognition and nutritional data extraction. Anthropic does not retain it once the request completes. Ankh does retain the image, together with the label the model returned, to improve recognition accuracy over time. These retained images are never used for advertising, never sold, and never shared with third parties for their own purposes.
Account information: If you choose to sign in with Apple for cloud sync, we receive your Apple ID identifier and, optionally, your name and email address. We do not receive your Apple ID password.
Profile details: If you sign in for cloud sync, the profile details you enter in the app are stored in your account so they stay with you when you reinstall Ankh or switch to a new device. These are: your first name, date of birth, height, target weight, Instagram handle, and biological sex. Your first name personalises your daily greeting; your date of birth and biological sex support age- and sex-adjusted features; height, target weight, and Instagram handle are optional. This information is stored alongside your other synced data, is never used for advertising, and is never sold to third parties. If you do not enable cloud sync, these details remain only on your device.
Location: If you allow it, Ankh reads your location while the app is open, to add weather conditions to your workouts. Workouts you record or import can also include a GPS route, which Ankh stores with the workout, draws on a map inside the app, syncs to your account if you have cloud sync on, and can render onto a workout share card if you choose to share one. Ankh does not read your location in the background. Your location and your routes are never sent to the AI; only the weather conditions derived from them are. Location is never used for advertising.
Website application forms (Ankh Originals): When you apply to join the Ankh Originals program via the application form at ankh.fit/originals, we collect: your full name, city and country, Instagram handle (and optionally another primary handle), the wearables you use, the training apps you currently use, your training background and goals, and your free-text answers about why you want to join. Instagram handle is asked because Originals is a small, named group of publicly visible people who train with Ankh; the handle lets us understand the community you already train with. This information is used only to evaluate your application, is never used for advertising, and is never sold. Applications are hosted by Tally (see Subprocessors below).
The main Ankh website does not collect phone numbers, email addresses, or any other personal information beyond what is described above. An earlier beta-signup form on the homepage collected email addresses, which were passed to Mailchimp to send launch and update notifications. That form has been retired and the website no longer collects email addresses. Addresses already collected are still held on Mailchimp, and you can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of any email.
2. How We Use Your Data
Where your data is processed depends on the feature. Specifically:
- Your health data is read from Apple Health and displayed in the app's dashboard, charts, and share cards.
- Your manually entered data is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework.
- If you enable AI analysis, your fitness data may be sent to Anthropic's Claude API for processing. AI analysis is triggered when you use features like coaching insights, mission planning, food scanning, or supplement scanning. An active Pro subscription is required for AI-powered features.
- If you enable cloud sync, your data is encrypted and stored on Supabase servers in the EU (Frankfurt region). This is entirely optional. Workouts that carry a GPS route sync that route with them. Your location and your routes are never sent for AI analysis; only the weather conditions derived from them are.
- Cycle data is excluded from AI analysis by default. Cycle phase, flow intensity and symptoms are not included in anything sent for AI processing unless you explicitly turn that on in settings.
3. Apple HealthKit Data
We comply with Apple's HealthKit guidelines:
- HealthKit data is never used for advertising or marketing purposes.
- HealthKit data is never sold to third parties, data brokers, or information resellers.
- HealthKit data is never shared with third parties for their marketing or advertising purposes.
- HealthKit data is only used for the app's primary purpose: displaying your fitness data to you.
- If cloud sync is enabled, HealthKit-derived data may be stored in your encrypted cloud backup for the sole purpose of restoring your data on another device.
4. Third-Party Services
Anthropic (Claude API): If you use AI analysis features, a summary of your fitness data is sent to Anthropic's servers for processing. Anthropic's privacy policy applies to that data. You can review it at anthropic.com/privacy.
Supabase: If you enable cloud sync, your data is stored on Supabase infrastructure in the EU. Supabase's privacy policy applies. See supabase.com/privacy.
Apple: Sign in with Apple is provided by Apple Inc. Apple's privacy policy applies to the authentication process.
5. Data Storage & Security
Local data is stored on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework and iOS Keychain (for sensitive tokens). This data is protected by your device's encryption and passcode.
If you enable cloud sync, data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored in Supabase's EU servers. Authentication tokens are stored in the iOS Keychain, not in plain-text storage.
6. Cross-Border Data Transfers
If you enable cloud sync, your data is stored on Supabase servers located in Frankfurt, Germany (EU). This includes the GPS route of any workout that has one. If you use AI analysis features (including food/supplement label scanning), your data is sent to Anthropic's servers in the United States for processing.
Crash and error diagnostics are processed by Sentry on servers in the European Union (Germany).
This means your data may be transferred across international borders. For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), transfers to the US are conducted in reliance on Anthropic's data processing agreements and applicable standard contractual clauses. AI data is processed transiently and is not retained by Anthropic after the request is complete.
7. Subprocessors
Ankh uses the following third-party subprocessors to provide its services:
- Anthropic (San Francisco, USA) · AI-powered analysis of fitness data and food/supplement label recognition via the Claude API. Privacy policy.
- Supabase (Frankfurt, Germany, EU) · Cloud data storage and authentication for users who enable cloud sync. Privacy policy.
- Sentry (Germany, EU) · crash and error diagnostics for the iOS app. Privacy policy.
- Apple Inc. (Cupertino, USA) · HealthKit integration for reading health and fitness data; Sign in with Apple for authentication. Privacy policy.
- Tally (Ghent, Belgium, EU) · Form hosting for the Ankh Originals application form at ankh.fit/originals. Application content is stored on Tally's EU infrastructure. Privacy policy.
- Mailchimp (Atlanta, USA, operated by Intuit) · Email delivery for the beta list collected before the signup form was retired. Only your email address is passed, and no new addresses are collected. Privacy policy.
We do not use tracking pixels, advertising frameworks, or third-party advertising SDKs. We do not sell your data and we do not share it with data brokers. We use Sentry for crash and error diagnostics, as listed above, configured so that personal information is not attached and screenshots are never captured. We also record product usage events, such as which features are opened, using our own first-party system rather than a third-party analytics service. These events are used to understand how Ankh is used and to improve it.
8. Data Retention & Deletion
Your data remains on your device until you delete the app. Deleting the app removes all locally stored data.
You can delete your account directly in the app via Settings → Account → Delete Account. If you are unable to access the app, you can request deletion by contacting us at hello@ankh.fit.
Ankh Originals applications are retained on Tally for the duration of the current cohort selection process (Class of 2026 closes 30 October 2026) and then archived for reference against future cohorts. Applicants can request deletion of their application at any time by emailing hello@ankh.fit.
Beta-signup email addresses collected via the retired homepage form are retained on Mailchimp until you unsubscribe using the link at the bottom of any email, or until you email hello@ankh.fit asking for removal. No new addresses are being added.
9. Delete Your Data
You can delete your account directly within the app. Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account. This removes:
- Your locally stored workout, nutrition, supplement, and measurement data
- Your synced account data held by Ankh (if cloud sync was enabled)
- Your user account and authentication credentials
Some technical and product-usage records that are not part of your account data may be retained for a period after deletion. We are extending the deletion process to cover these. If you want them removed sooner, contact hello@ankh.fit and we will do it manually.
This action is irreversible. Data deleted through this process cannot be recovered. HealthKit data stored in Apple Health is managed separately through the Apple Health app and is not affected by account deletion in Ankh.
10. Children's Privacy
Ankh is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
11. Your Rights (GDPR)
If you are in the European Economic Area, you have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Correct inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Export your data in a portable format
- Object to processing of your data
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email below.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy in the app and updating the "Last updated" date above.
13. Contact Us
